Abstract

Sugarcane is cash crop widely distributed around the world. Plant molecular biology has been studied widely bringing about a revolution in the field of crop biotechnology. Today, Molecular markers is extensively use for genome analysis of plant. Molecular Marker becomes a powerful and reliable tool in crop improvement and management. Present day use of molecular markers for the detection and exploitation of DNA polymorphism is one of the most significant developments in the field of molecular biology. Various types of molecular markers are available. In this article we attempt to review most of the available molecular markers has been used for molecular genetics for sugarcane. Molecular marker is widely used in various aspects of plant genome analysis such as genetic diversity, Genetic fidelity, genome fingerprinting, genome mapping (QTL mapping), gene localization, population genetics, taxonomy, plant breeding, analysis of genome evolution, and also helpful to developed disease resistant variety. Molecular marker play vital role to understand molecular biology of plants.
