Abstract

Coefficient of coil friction depends upon the surface of fixed collar and roughness of rope, its type and laps angle (θ). But the coefficient of coil friction not only depends upon the viscosity of oil which is applied on the surface of rope but also the type of rope used. Nylon rope is having high coil friction than that of cotton rope. But when applied 3mililiter of oil on the surface of cotton rope then the coefficient of coil friction remarkably changes and it is depends upon the viscosity, thickness and density of oil. When applied 3 millilitre of hard water, the coefficient of coil friction changes due to adhesive forces between rope and collar. The right material viscosity will give sufficiently high working efficiency and effectiveness with reference to lap’s angle θ. Coefficient of coil Friction μ play very important role in fluid mechanics.
