This chapter highlights the challenges and survival strategies for newspapers in the information age. The chapter makes the case that print newspapers are confronted with a number of difficulties, such as a general loss in reading culture, a lack of interaction, readers' preferences for free news, and the need to keep production and distribution costs as low as possible while still delivering timely updates. These challenges occur mostly due to the rise of digital media technology, which has challenged how people consume and interact with information. The interactivity offered by digital media through multimedia elements, comments, shares, and likes, as well as the ability to engage in real-time conversation, has affected the popularity of print newspapers. Additionally, digital media technology exerts a significant impact on several facets of print newspapers, such as subscription rates, audience engagement, distribution, and revenue generated from advertisements. In essence, the possibility to access information and receive instant updates via the Internet has threatened the existence of traditional newspapers. Yet, by utilizing digital technology and maintaining print editions, publishers can provide credible news and information to expand their reach and attract advertisers. However, it is debatable that technology may not replicate the credibility and quality of newspaper content. It is hoped that this chapter could provide useful information to newspaper publishers, journalists, advertisers, and readers on information delivery and consumption in the information age.
