The capacity to identify and analyze inhibitory components in plant by-products is imperative to prevent and effectively treat infections caused by these pathogenic microorganisms. Ethanol extracts of Chromolaena odorata wood ash were investigated for In-vitro inhibitory activity against isolated bacteria namely Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Escherichia coli and Streptococcus spp. The agar well diffusion method was used to investigate for the inhibitory properties of this wood ash extract. Results from the susceptibility tests showed that the wood ash extracts of Chromolaena odorata at varying concentrations inhibited the growth of all test organisms. Test wood ash extract of Chromolaena odorata exhibited MIC values ranging from 13.0 mg/mL to 12.5 mg/mL.
