Abstract

This study provides a comprehensive search of the agricultural and rural landscape in Turkey using technical analysis and statistical data. The research is focused on land use patterns, agricultural holding sizes and rural infrastructure. In Turkey, according to land size distribution agricultural holdings were concentrated in the range of 20-49 decares. It has been seen that the mechanization tendency is the most in this group. The ownership of 2-5 parcels is highest in the same enterprise size group, and the 6-9 parcel range followed this value. The share of agricultural holdings that small from 50 decares in the total number of enterprises is 64.8% and the share of these enterprises in the total agricultural land has been determined as 21.34%. Considering the land-use status, it is seen that 1.6% of the arable land is not used. The findings underscore the challenges posed by small agricultural holdings and fragmented land ownership and highlight the need for strategic interventions to increase productivity and sustainable development. Implementation of projects for rural infrastructure gains importance in preventing uncontrolled migration of rural population to the city.
