Abstract

Palmar dermatoglyphic data were collected from 220 persons (116 men and 104 women) of muria gond tribe of Bastar district in Madhya Pradesh State. The dermatoglyphic data did not show significant variation from other tribal groups of protoaustraloid origin. More extensive genetic studies are required to provide conclusive evidence to support the protoaustraloid origin of these tribal groups.
